This glue gun has a detachable cord that may be plugged directly into the gun or into a base unit. With the plug inserted directly into the gun, it acts like a typical corded gun. With the plug inserted into the base unit, the gun must be heated in the base unit before use. Once hot, the gun can be detached from the base unit and used 'cordless.'
